Operation Adaptation Shows Us How to Eco-Party

The temperatures are rising in the Southeastern Wisconsin, revealing Mother Nature's softer side for the Wisconsin summer months. Her timing couldn't be better as we anticipate highly proactive and celebratory Earth Day activities.

It's a good thing Operation Adaptation has us covered with a weekend of live music, environmental charities, Wisconsin's largest convention of tree huggers (so they hope!), and a vacation with Mother Nature herself to truly pay our respects to her generosity. The "Concert for a Healthy Planet" is the most encompassing opportunity this weekend to participate in Earth Day festivities.

The festival buzz will kick off with the exceptional line-up of some of the area's best jam bands. These bands aren't just playing on any indoor stages either. You, the eager festival attendee, will power the Main Stage by the pedaling of bicycles! Here's the impressive list of bands taking participatory rock n' roll activism to a new level:

  • Cosmic Railroad

  • Bryan Cherry

  • Groovatron

  • Willy Porter

  • Fat Maw Rooney

  • Unity the Band

  • Sean Shiel

  • Runside Down

  • Pert Near Sandstone

  • Heatbox

  • Stealin' Strings

  • Family Groove Company

  • Fat Maw Rooney (acoustic)

  • Chinese Fingertrap

Whether or not you decide to archive a new life experience (Where else are you going to power a stage on a bicycle?!) or simply dance the night away in a patchouli daze, your presence at the Operation contributes to the environment. Trees for the Future will plant one tree is planted for every event ticket sold.

Eco-friendly vendors and charities will explore the heights of environmental activism. The Hunger Task Force will waive your parking and camping fee with a donation of eight food items. And what would an event be without pizza? Totally Baked Pizza will serve food with corn-based utensils for hungry attendees.

The festival kicks April 18-19 in Sullivan, WI, a small community off of I-94. It's the perfect location for both Madison and Milwaukee urbanites to escape the real world and live off of the good of the land for a weekend. The festival even offers camping grounds to truly embody the nature spirit! Bring your tent, eight non-perishable food items, and let's get ready to party for the environment!
